They Can't Read Their Own Polls...

Latinos Go Big On Becerra and Open Primaries

Partisans manufacture polls and narratives to fit their agenda. Nonpartisan primaries don't fit that agenda.

Party operatives can't control Top Two, so they spin the headlines. Last week, a Democratic Party pollster declared "massive erosion" in support for California's open primary, even though his own data showed 70% of voters want to keep or expand it.

IVN has been exposing these manufactured narratives from the beginning, including with our own polling. We poll what voters actually think, not what either party wants to hear. It is one reason we were the first poll to show to show Xavier Becerra leading in the California governor's race and the only poll that shows just 22% of Latino voters oppose nonpartisan primaries and are going big for Beccera.

They Can't Read Their Own Polls

A Democratic Party pollster just released a survey claiming "massive erosion" in support for California's Top Two primary, but his own numbers show 70% of voters want to keep or expand open primaries, with just 29% wanting a return to closed partisan contests.

It's no surprise the parties are nervous. Since Top Two took effect, the nonpartisan primary has quietly transformed California's legislature - forcing candidates to compete for every voter, not just their party's base. Read the article now to see why the people trying to dismantle the system can't seem to understand their own polling.

Latinos Go Big for Beccera... and Open Primaries

A new Independent Voter Project poll finds that California Latino voters overwhelmingly want to keep their voice in the primary - only 22% support returning to closed partisan primaries, while a majority would rather keep or expand the nonpartisan Top Two system.

And in the governor's race, Xavier Becerra holds a commanding lead among Latino voters, cementing his strength with the fastest-growing bloc in the state. The takeaway is clear: the voters the parties claim to represent don't want the parties controlling their ballot.

You Are The Lion: Embrace the Jungle Primary

"The Jungle" is a part of IVP and FIVE's public service announcement to inform California's independent "NPP" voters of their voting rights at YourPrimary.com.

If a nonpartisan primary is really a "jungle," then independent voters are the lion that partisan special interests want to put in a cage.
