ME Legislature Passes Ranked Choice Voting for President... Then Takes It Back?
Update: Despite passing with strong majorities in both chambers of the legislature, it has come to my attention that the ranked choice voting bill in Maine did not make its way to the governor’s desk. Due to an 11th hour procedural movement, the bill was sent back to the Senate. According to the Committee for Ranked Choice Voting, the bill is not dead. There is still an opportunity to pass it when the legislature meets later this summer to address the governor’s vetoes and bond packages. Thank

IVP Sits Down With KUSI News to Discuss California’s Presidential Primary Problems
IVP legal advisor Chad Peace joined KUSI's Paul Rudy to discuss the ongoing problems with the presidential primary, what it means for those who choose to register and run outside the major parties, and the Independent Voter Project's simple solution to fix the confusing and unconstitutional process.
It is now well documented -- especially after the 2016 presidential primary -- how California's semi-closed system puts barriers in front of No Party Preference voters and candidates.

Opinion: CA Mandatory Vaccination Will Actually Harm Public Health
As a doctor, I believe in the science underlying vaccination, and what Jonas Salk, Edward Jenner and others in this field contributed to our understanding of how immunization works.
But I am steadfastly against Senate Bill 276 because it is trying to fix a problem that does not exist.
Vaccination rates for children in California are above levels for ”community immunity.” According to California Department of Public Health, 99.3 percent do not even have medical exemptions. Further, over 97 perc

Independent Voter Education for 2020: Sacramento Registrar Preparing For "Big Undertaking"
San Diego, Calif.- No Party Preference (NPP) and American Independent (AI) voters in California are likely going to be confused when their ballot arrives for the March 2020 presidential primary as they will have no option for president.
The same issue arose in the 2016 presidential primary for Bernie Sanders supporters, which set off a firestorm of controversy.
Now, 4 years later, the state is offering a band-aid "solution" that increases communication to NPP voters, but doesn't change their a

Don't Let It Happen Again: California's Unconstitutional Presidential Primary
Imagine that California’s 4.7 million Republican and 8.6 million Democrat voters were not able to vote for a presidential candidate of their choice in March 2020.
And NO ONE seemed to care.
California’s 5.6 million NPP voters don’t have to imagine, because for the state's second-largest voting bloc by a wide margin, this IS their reality. Even though California’s constitution requires an “open presidential primary,” meaning every voter is supposed to be able to vote for whomever they want, the

PODCAST: Will Californians Finally Get An Open Presidential Primary in 2020?
California is headed for a disastrous presidential primary in 2020. Nearly 6 million registered citizens are denied a meaningful vote. Half a million voters have no idea they are registered with a third party, meaning they cannot cast a ballot for any candidate outside that party. Many voters will be confused. Millions more will be disenfranchised.
It happened in 2016. It will happen again in 2020, unless something changes.
I sat down with Independent Voter Project attorney Chad Peace to discu
