The Independent Voter Project sat down this week with Michelle Glogovac on her podcast Beyond the Campaign, a show that has built a following by doing something most political media doesn't: skipping the talking points and focusing on the people and ideas behind public life.

Glogovac goes past stump speeches and issue checklists to focus on accountability, accessibility, and the kind of depth most interview shows sand off. The show is part of The MLG Collective, and Michelle brings the same standard to every guest. She does the research, she asks the hard questions, and she treats her audience as people who want more than soundbites.

That's a good fit for what IVP is trying to do. The conversation included a discussion of how California's nonpartisan primary works, the structural differences between open and closed primary systems, the SAVE Act and voter ID debate, and ranked choice voting as a potential path forward, outside the narrow perspectives of the partisan media.

Glogovac's audience is broader and less partisan. They're paying attention because they want to understand how the system actually works, not because they already have a team.

The episode is available on YouTubeSpotifyApple Podcasts, and all other major listening platforms, and will also go out through Glogovac's Substack. Listen below.
