The Story of a Broken System from Inside the Georgia 6th Congressional District Special Election
In November 2016, Tom Price, my congressman, was nominated to be Secretary of Health and Human Services for the Trump administration. I was still working hard in my natural gas vehicle conversion business, but I felt that an opportunity to have my voice heard was something I just couldn’t pass up.
So I worked feverishly to shut down my business and invest my hard-earned money into a congressional run. I was just a 33-year-old kid from Alabama with no name ID, no financial backers, and no politi

Ron Paul Unleashed: Former Candidate Excoriates Trump and Congress On One Issue After Another
Dr. Ron Paul, who served 12 terms in the US Congress and became famous when he ran on a libertarian platform for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, has been on a rampage this Spring, excoriating both President Trump and the Republican-held Congress on one issue after another.
Carol Paul must be putting something in her husband's coffee, because the libertarian firebrand (who turns 82 this year) spent the month of April challenging the political establishment with the kind of gusto

TrumpCare: An Important First Step
Now comes the hard part. The house passing health care repeal and replace legislation is a significant short-term win for President Trump, but it won’t mean anything lest he can wrangle the Senate’s support. And that won’t be easy.
Clearly the bill is going to be put through the ringer in the Senate, as it should, and it will likely undergo significant changes and modifications before and if it is enacted into law, but make no mistake, this was an important political step for Washington, D.C.,

Congress Effectively Legalizes Medical Marijuana at the Federal Level
Last week, Congress avoided a government shutdown by agreeing to a continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded for another week.
Then over the weekend, US lawmakers agreed to a deal that will extend funding through September while Congress and the White House continue to negotiate longer-term fiscal policy priorities.
The US House passed the budget deal Wednesday.
But amidst Washington's annual kabuki theater dance around fiscal policy and possible government shutdowns, a litt

Sen. Susan Collins: Ideologically-Driven Groups Have Helped Kill Compromise in Washington
https://youtu.be/WDH9oLh6WXg
The divide between the left and the right continues to grow with no end in sight.
Senators Angus King (I-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) sat down with Chuck Todd on NBC's Meet the Press this past Sunday to provide their take as some of the more independent-minded members of the Senate, on the causes, effects, and solutions to polarization.
"The rise of ideologically-driven groups on both the left and the right who are requiring 100 percent compliance with 100 percent

Keep it Simple, Stupid: Beyond the Partisan Bickering on Tax Reform
Even with new approval of a GOP health care bill from the Freedom Caucus that could provide the votes to repeal and replace Obamacare, another major focus for the GOP and many Americans is tax reform. Tax policy is something often misunderstood and misconstrued, breaking down into partisan bickering over higher or lower rates and who doesn’t pay enough: presumably the wealthy and corporations or for some, the documented 47% of Americans who pay nothing.
Needless to say, the Trump administration

Collision Course: Budget Showdown in the Land of Hypocrisy
It is certainly a big week in the land of hypocrisy.
Tax reform, Obamacare, the border wall, and a possible government shutdown are all on the table as Congress wrestles with progress and its 17% approval rating.
Political experts note that if President Trump is able to get through the next two weeks with any semblance of achievement on those three crucial points, defeating him in 2020 will be incredibly difficult.
And, with much at stake, get ready for an overdose of alternative facts.

Nonpartisan Elections in Florida? One Coalition is Trying to Make It Happen
Florida voters may soon have a chance to adopt nonpartisan open primaries. At least, that is the hope of a coalition of nonpartisan organizations that are asking the state's Constitution Revision Commission to put it on the ballot in 2018.
“We're looking to develop primary reforms that let all voters vote and create more responsive candidates that actually represent the communities that elect them and are not simply responsive to the partisan few that come to elect them in closed primaries," sa

0-18: No Viable Third-Party Choice in Georgia
Atlanta, Georgia – In three counties just north of Atlanta, voters are heading to the polls for a special election Tuesday.
The nationally watched election is getting enormous attention as Democrats are looking for a salve to heal their wounds from the November election. Although no Democrat has taken the 6th Congressional District since 1979 when Newt Gingrich took office for 10 consecutive terms, there is a sense of optimism from the left, as President Donald Trump’s 48% from this district in
