WASHINGTON, DC – In the midst of a mid-decade redistricting fight between the two major parties, The Independent Center has announced the launch of Independent Center Voice (ICV), a 501(c)(4) organization designed to directly challenge the entrenched tactics that have distorted congressional maps and voter representation for decades.

The Independent Center says the new organization will allow it to engage more directly in key swing districts across the country, using cutting-edge tools to push back against the old political playbook that favors party insiders at the expense of voters.

Gerrymandering: A Bipartisan Power Grab Voters Reject

In recent years, both major parties have aggressively redrawn district lines to protect their power. The result, according to ICV, has been a systematic sidelining of voters – particularly the growing number of Americans who don’t identify with either party.

“Gerrymandering is unpopular with Republicans, Democrats, and independent voters,” said Adam Brandon, senior advisor to Independent Center Voice.

People are unhappy with rewriting the rules to gain a partisan advantage. But it does the opposite of what partisan strategists intend — gerrymandering actually weakens these districts by putting more seats in play because voters see it as unfair.”

The organization argues that this constant gaming of the system breeds distrust and destabilizes the very districts politicians are trying to lock down.

Harnessing AI to See Beyond Partisan Maps

At the heart of ICV’s strategy is a proprietary AI model that takes a different approach to analyzing congressional districts. While traditional redistricting tools focus almost entirely on partisan metrics, this model layers in additional factors like:

  • Unaffiliated voter counts
  • Turnout trends
  • Demographic shifts

By looking beyond party lines, ICV says it can create a fuller, more accurate picture of which districts are truly competitive and where voters are being overlooked.

“Gerrymandering effectively disenfranchises moderate voters,” said Brett Loyd, lead pollster for ICV. “When we talk about redistricting, we only talk about Republicans and Democrats. Yet the plurality of people are unaffiliated. So, the parties are overlooking a massive bloc of potential voters.”

A Mission to Engage the Politically Homeless

Independent Center Voice sees its mission as more than just opposing bad maps. It wants to reshape the very definition of a swing district by engaging voters who feel politically homeless and left behind by the current system.

The organization believes the end goal is simple but transformative: more choices at the ballot box and a more representative democracy – one that reflects the full spectrum of American political identity, not just the two-party status quo.

As the 2026 midterms draw closer and the battle over redistricting intensifies, Independent Center Voice is positioning itself as a force for voters across the spectrum who are ready to move beyond the partisan fight and reclaim a system that works for everyone.
