Published:

Many have heard of the Annual Father Joe's Annual Thanksgiving 5k run/walk that takes place in Balboa Park every year. With over 100,000 participants last  year, this event will be hard to miss. The run/walk will start  at 7:45am, and begins at the San Diego Museum of Man in Balboa Park.

This year, for the first time, they will be offering a new race course through the San Diego Zoo. Everyone participating in the race will receive a commemorative shirt, complimentary continental breakfast, access to the complimentary post-race beer garden, and live entertainment. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group, and Blue Rocket band will be performing live at the finish line. Registration will be available the day of the race between 6-7:30am at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park.

Father Joe's Villages have been around for sixty-two years, and is one of the largest residential homeless services providers in southern California. The run/walk saw the partnership of such agencies as St. Vincent De Paul Village and Martha's Village in San Diego, and Martha's Village & Kitchen in Indio, California. Father Joe's Villages and their partners are able to provide 4,000 meals and provide care to 1,500 people every day - from infants to seniors. Sister Patricia "Tricia" Cruise, SC is President and Chief Executive Officer of Father Joe's, and has thirty-two years of  experience working in education and academic administration.

Father Joe's Village is working to help San Diego's homeless and giving them a brighter future and all proceeds from the race will benefit the programs that help home individuals regain self-sufficiency.
