\On The Mindless Menace of Violence\
With the news of the shootings at the Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and with the movie theater shooting near Denver, Colorado, I wonder what we are becoming when people can't enjoy a night out at the movies or a day of prayer in our religious homes. There is absolutely no reason for actions such as this. And though gun control will likely get into the debate, that is not what this is at this time. Instead, we as a nation and a community are left to grapple with what has transpire

Attacking Planned Parenthood is a Cheap Shot at Women
Credit: wikipedia.org
The opponents of Planned Parenthood are at it again. Or, I would say they're at it again but they've really never stopped. But these days it seems the attacks on reproductive health care and women's autonomy of their own bodies is on a constant feedback loop. It's no wonder it inspired the hyperbolic War on Women nickname. For many, being a woman has never felt so dangerous.
Just this past week, we've seen President Obama's Hail Mary save of Planned Parenthood clinics tha

Legislators Move to Limit Ammunition Sales and Use

The UN conference on the Arms Trade Treaty ended on July 27th without consensus; the US signaled that it wouldn't support the agreement.
In the wake of the Aurora, Colorado shooting, however, the domestic conversation on gun control has continued. President Obama signaled his interest in stricter gun control and perhaps his unfamiliarity with US gun laws when he said to the National Urban League:
“But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong

Gov. Romney stumps in Missouri Credit: Reuters
The swing state Missouri has been coveted for more than a century, but this election seems to be ignoring the home of the big arch, Enterprise Rent-a-Car and the blues. But its tenure as a swing state may be coming to a close.
“Missouri has been a bellwether state for more than 100 years, with presidential candidates lavishing attention on Show-Me State voters and spending millions on field operations, glossy campaign mailers, and TV ads. But this

Idaho Billboard Stirs Controversy
A political billboard comparing President Obama to the Colorado movie theater shooter is causing outrage in Iowa.
It shows side by side pictures of the suspected Colorado shooter and President Obama, in mid-laugh. It reads: "Kills 12 in movie theater with assault rifle, everyone freaks out. Kills thousands with his foreign policy, wins Nobel Peace Prize."
The Idaho Statesman first reported on the billboard and a regular commuter's response: “I don’t care if you’re Republican or Democrat, it w

Pennsylvania voters, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, appeared before the state this morning, challenging the new state voter ID laws that threaten to disenfranchise 1 million of the 8.3 million registered voters in the state. The Election of 1912 and the Bull Moose Party
This election cycle marks the 100 year anniversary of the historic election of 1912 presidential election. But wait a second, why does this election stand out so much? Well it wasn't your typical two-way race between the Democrats and Republicans. This time around it was a three-way race between the incumbent and Republican William H. Taft, the Democratic nominee Woodrow Wilson, and Teddy Roosevelt of the Bull Moose party.
So you're probably wondering how did something like this happen? Teddy R

Marijuana Prohibition Loses Ground to Modern Federalism
As a constitutional republic, the US system of government is designed on the principles of federalism. In our federalist system the federal government is one of enumerated powers and those powers not explicitly granted to the federal government are reserved to the states. The framers of the Constitution established this system through the Tenth Amendment, which reads:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the stat
