Union Dissolved
Since Obama won reelection a week ago, the White House website has been flooded with petitions from citizens in various states wanting their states to secede from the union. The Things That Seem & Those That Are
For the great majority of mankind are satisfied with appearances, as though they were reality, and are often more influenced by the things that seem than by those that are.- Nicolo Machiavelli, The 8th Institute
I began writing opinion pieces in 1973. It’s now 39-years later and in something approaching 500,000 words, I have expressed many opinions about issues and people. I have neither hidden my political beliefs nor Christian faith, neither my cultural values nor love of baseball.

How Did Third Party Candidates Perform in the Election?
During this election cycle, IVN covered third party candidates to ensure voters could access information about the wide range of choices they had at the ballot box.
Gary Johnson, from the Libertarian Party, received 1,139,562 votes which represents 0.9% of the popular vote. He is the third party candidate who has done the best this year, but fell far short of the 5% needed to receive public funding for the 2016 Libertarian candidate. He is, however, the most successful Libertarian Party candida

Utah's only incumbent Democrat, Jim Matheson, won the state's 4th Congressional District against Republican opponent, Mia Love, by just over one percent, The Desert News reported. The results were extremely close and it took all night to receive the results.
Matheson declared his candidacy for the newly created 4th District after redistricting split the 2nd District, which he has represented for twelve years. Utah’s 4th District, like the 2nd, is largely Republican, but Mathes

The Conservative Case Against Mitt Romney
Photo: Gage Skidmore
"The Conservative Case Against Mitt Romney" may seem like an odd title. Isn't making a conservative case against Mitt Romney the equivalent of squaring the circle?
The foremost liability against Romney is his untrustworthiness. As the Bible says in 1 Timothy 6:10, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." It is out of this singular trait that flow many of the reasons conservatives should not support the former Massachusetts governor. Each of these liabilities
