Senate Candidate Richard Mourdock Struggles For Lugar's Support
(Credit: Indianapolis Star)
In Indiana, two battles are transpiring. The first is between US Senate candidate Richard Mourdock, a Republican and Representative Joe Donnelly, a Democrat. The second is the ongoing battle between Mourdock and the man he defeated in the primary, US Senator Richard Lugar.
After Mourdock defeated Lugar in the Republican primary on May 8, the Democrats saw an opportunity to gain a Senate seat. Since his first victory in 1976, Lugar never earned less than 54% of the v

Energy Policy, the Environment, and the Battle for the Senate
Current projections are that the Democrats will retain control of the Senate by a narrow margin. But that could change, particularly if Romney continues to surge and carry GOP Senate candidates along with him. Energy and environmental policy are areas where this really matters. The House of Representatives has passed numerous bills relating to energy and environmental issue over the past two years. These bills have died in the Senate, but that could change with a new Senate.

Independent Voters Could Determine Indiana Senate Race
Credit: Realclearpolitics.com
In America's Heartland, independent voters are again a topic of scrutiny. The Indiana Senate race has become a monetary sinkhole as Republicans and Democrats pour advertising funds into the race in an attempt to pick up undecided, opposition, and independent voters. Americans for Prosperity, a Republican PAC, announced they would be spending $700,000 in a statewide ad campaign, while the The Majority PAC (Democrat) announced it would be investing $500,000 in ads in

Paddle Boarding in San Diego
Paddle Boarding In San Diego
Although this board was originally constructed back in the 1930's, if you had asked the average San Diegan one or two years ago what Paddleboarding was, most would not be able to tell you. But recently one cannot pass by our oceans or bays without seeing active San Diegans paddling their little hearts out.
Paddleboarding equipment consists of one large surf-boardesque board- approximately 12 feet or so long, and a very long paddle. To get an idea of how long the pa

The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled last Monday that a Minnesota voter ID law will remain on the ballot as worded.
In the 4-2 ruling the court decided, "the 'essential purpose' of the proposed amendment at issue in this case is the requirement that voters provide photographic identification in order to vote. That 'essential purpose' is communicated in the ballot question." But Justice Alan Page came out and sai

U.S. District Court Rejects Texas Voter ID Law
A federal court on Thursday upheld the U.S. Department of Justice’s decision to block a Texas voter ID law passed by the 82nd Texas Legislature. This is the second time in less than a week a three-judge panel ruled against state lawmakers and found the state of Texas in violation of Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
The DOJ denied Texas preclearance for Senate Bill (SB) 14 back in March. The Obama administration argued that the law intentionally discriminates against certain demograph

Study: In-person Voter Fraud is Virtually Non-Existent
Credit: npr.org
A new study of voter fraud over the last twelve years finds that, though cases of such fraud can indeed be found throughout the United States, they are “infinitesimal” in number, and that cases of in-person voter fraud or impersonation on Election Day are virtually non-existent.
The study was produced as part of the News 21 Voting Rights Project, a nationally coordinated investigation conducted by two dozen journalism students from across the country, and centered at the Walter

Arizona Bans Abortion After 18 Weeks
After a confusion, voluntary of not, over medical terminology, Arizona became the most restrictive state with a ban of abortion after 18 weeks of pregnancy.
The last version of the "Women Health and Safety Act" signed by Arizona Governor provides a de facto ban of abortion after 18 weeks of pregnancy, except for medical emergency. Arizona is thus joining the fast growing club of states that have in the past two years been trying to limit access to abortion by limiting the number of weeks during
