OPINION: Debunking the Lesser-of-Two-Evils Voting Theory
Anyone who has ever supported a third-party presidential candidate in an election has likely had to defend their decision from partisans who endorse the lesser-of-two-evils voter theory. By the logic offered by proponents of the theory, anyone who votes for an independent candidate is at best wasting their vote, and at worst handing the election over to their least-favorite major-party candidate.
With as many as four potential Supreme Court replacements looming during the next presidency, parti

Understanding the Oregon Standoff: Do the Occupiers Have a Legitimate Grievance?
The standoff in Oregon that began on January 2 appears to have reached its conclusion. On Tuesday, January 26, several occupiers of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge were arrested, and one occupier, Robert “LaVoy” Finicum, was killed in a confrontation with law enforcement.
The leader of the occupiers, Ammon Bundy, has since called on the occupiers to return home. Only four occupiers remain, and a federal judge has denied the release of several apprehended individuals until the occupation ha

What Exactly is an "Anti-Establishment" Candidate?
There has been an inordinate amount of press coverage dedicated to the term “anti-establishment” during this election cycle. But have we stopped to think about what exactly this word means?
The term itself denotes a bifurcated world where wealthy, powerful elites (the “establishment”) are actively fighting any individuals who are striving to mitigate their financial and political hegemony (the “anti-establishment”).
This year’s crop of presidential candidates apparently exist in a dichotomous

Commission on Presidential Debates to Allow Third Candidate? Yeah Right...
The Washington Post reported Thursday that the co-chairs of the Commission on Presidential Debates claim they are open to including an independent or third-party candidate in the general election debates. This is true, but only if the third candidate clears a near-impossible hurdle or a major movement emerges that pressures the commission to change the rules regarding candidate inclusion.
CPD co-chairs, Frank Fahrenkopf Jr. and Michael McCurry, will appear on the PBS public affairs show, The Op

Passions Run High as Journalists and Trade Experts Examine Full Details of TPP
The Trans-Pacific Partnership, also known as the TPP, was just released to the public after negotiations in November 2015. Opponents, however, accuse the proposal of expanding corporate powers at the expense of those interests.
The TPP evokes high suspicions due to the secrecy and exclusiveness of its negotiations. U.S. elected officials did little of the negotiat

The Presidential Debate The Mass Media Won't Report On
Mitchell Bupp, of Independent Voter Radio on Freedom Slips, hosted his second independent debate -- this time with 6 independent candidates: Denise Bedio, John "Green" Ferguson, Dr. Lynn S. Kahn, Joe Anthony, Marque Lundgren, and Dave Parker.
The first debate focused on the economy, Common Core, and Syria. In round two, Bupp covered government spending, illegal immigration, and more on the Middle East.

After Traveling 14K Miles, Independent POTUS Candidate Learns One Crucial Truth About America
The spirit of America is strong; the state of our union is fragile.
That is my conclusion after 100 days driving 14,128 miles through 34 states as an independent candidate for President of the United States.
I met with over 1,000 people individually and in small groups. I mostly stayed away from big cities and college campuses. I had learned on two short campaign trips before this long one that very few Americans understand there are independent candidates running for office so I got in the ha

Virginia Loyalty Oath: Party Over Country
The fact that Virginia’s Republican Party wants voters to take a Party loyalty oath as a condition of voting in the publicly-funded and administered presidential primary shouldn’t surprise anyone.
In Utah, the Republican Party recently closed their previously open primary through a legal challenge.
In doing so, the Republicans relied on precedent set by the Democratic Party in the Jones case from California 15 years ago.
It's the same precedent that is being argued in Montana, Hawaii, New Mex
