Jill Stein's Election Recount Effort Has Raised $7 Million and Changed Nothing
Here at IVN.us, the integrity of the voting process is very important, so any hint of foul play or voter fraud is something we take an earnest interest in understanding and reporting accurately and comprehensively.
As a forum for independent and third-party voters, the writers and editors here have also been very gracious toward and inclusive of the presidential candidacy and issues raised by Green Party presidential nominee Dr. Jill Stein.
I know a lot of people here continue to applaud her e

The Electoral College is Outdated and Undemocratic
Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is now beating President-elect Donald Trump in the popular vote by more than 2 million votes. This is by far the biggest deficit in popular votes by a winning candidate in the history of the country.
But the discrepancy between electoral and popular votes shouldn’t make us question the legitimacy of the election -- the Electoral College is the law of the land. In the words of president-elect Donald Trump, abolishing the Electoral College would make for a “

Joe Biden: Racists Didn't Elect Donald Trump
Vice President Joe Biden in his trademark level of candor spoke late last week on why the Democratic Party lost the 2016 presidential election. While much of the focus in the mainstream media has been on "white nationalists," Biden said it wasn't racists who won Trump the presidency, but voters the Democratic Party had long overlooked -- namely rural, working-class Americans.
“We lost because of awful lot of hard-working Americans who live in areas where we did not pay much attention to,” he sa

An Unexpected Path to Liberal Revival
I saw two maps shown by John King on CNN when he was analyzing the 2012 election. They illustrated with striking clarity the political divide in this nation. Those maps pointed towards a possible path liberals could take to reasert their importance in the political system.
The first map showed the states, colored red or blue, depending on which presidential candidate won a majority in each one. In that election they were pretty evenly divided.
Then he showed a map of each of the individual cou

Independent Voters Flipped The Entire Presidential Election to Trump
Editor's note: This article was co-authored by Breton Peace and IVN editor Shawn Griffiths.
Media pundits, shellshocked by Donald Trump's victory, will likely spend days trying to dissect the presidential outcome to figure out how their predictions and election models turned out so wrong. While they will continue to talk about "white males" and the impact Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson had on the race, take a look at the following raw data from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylv

Independent Congressional Candidate Alan LaPolice Could Make History in Kansas
Kansas is not typically a state that gets much attention during an election year. It is generally considered a solid red state; however, that began to change in 2014 when independent U.S. Senate candidate Greg Orman ran a close race against Republican incumbent U.S. Senator Pat Roberts.
In 2016, there is an unusual race taking place in the 1st Congressional District in Kansas. An ag-based area, from which the likes of Bob Dole hale, the rural district doesn't make the news often. In August, how

Independent, Third Party Candidates: Vote Your Conscience; Stick With Us
Why stick with third party and independent candidates in November, if Clinton and Trump have a combined 80% of the electorate in all major polls? In an election season that is anything but usual, one trend is holding up: outside campaigns are losing support in the last months of the race.
The campaigns of Libertarian candidate Gov. Gary Johnson, Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein, independent candidate Dr. Lynn S. Kahn, and Veterans Party candidate Chris Keniston responded to a short question

Tracking the Candidates: Current Electoral College Rules Mean Most Americans Ignored
In the weeks since the California primary, when Hillary Clinton joined Donald Trump in becoming her party’s presumptive nominee for president, FairVote has tracked both candidates’ campaign appearances. FairVote’s similar analysis in 2012 showed just how much the candidates focus on swing states that might tip the election with our current Electoral College rules. After the conventions in 2012, Barack Obama campaigned in a grand total of just eight states and Mitt Romney added only two more. The

Google Searches for Third Party Candidates Skyrocket after Trump's RNC Speech
As the 2016 Republican National Convention wrapped up Thursday, one aspect was clear: Americans are increasingly looking for alternative candidates outside of the two-party duopoly. According to Google Trends, searches for "3rd party candidate 2016" increased by 1,150 percent over the last week.
Interestingly, states with the highest third party candidate searches in the United States were (in order): Ohio, Missouri, Colorado, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, and Michigan.
