Gay Marriage Legalized in Three More States
Gay Marriage Legalized in Three More States
32 states have previously put the right for same-sex couples to receive civil marriages to a popular vote, and 32 times the measures were voted down. Yesterday, however, three states became the first to successfully pass ballot measures to make gay marriage legal: Maryland, Maine, and Washington. Maryland’s proposition passed with close approval, at 52%. The measure’s passage is consistent with pre-election polling. The Maryland State legislature approved same-sex marriage in February of 2012,

Same-Sex Marriage Legal in Maryland, Maine, Washington, Minnesota
While America voted for president, states across the nation voted on social issues, with same-sex marriage on the ballot in Maryland, Maine, Washington, and Minnesota. While widely ignored by the presidential candidates, America displayed a broad acceptance for previously rejected social issues in Tuesday's election, with all four states making history as same-sex marriage laws passed in three states, and an amendment defining marriage in heterosexual terms failed in Minnesota. In Maryland, vot

Representative Michele Bachmann Struggles For Re-Election
(Credit: Gage Skidmore) Fifteen months after winning the Iowa Straw Poll in August 2011, Minnesota US Representative Michele Bachmann may be on the ropes in the Sixth District. A recent poll from the Minneapolis Star Tribune shows Bachmann leading her Democratic opponent, hotel executive Jim Graves, by a margin of 51-45. Not an insignificant lead, but for an incumbent with national name recognition in a solidly Republican district, Bachmann's lead is tenuous. Bachmann, first elected to the US
