OPINION: Public Officials Should Enforce The Law, Not The Bible
ROWAN COUNTY, KY. -- At the end of June, the Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that state bans on same-sex marriage violated the 14th Amendment and were thus unconstitutional. This led to same-sex marriage being legal throughout the country.
The majority of places began to make the necessary changes within the coming weeks. There was no more uncertainty about where the law stood. But in Rowan County, Kentucky, elected clerk Kim Davis decided to take a stand and defy the court’s ruling

Is Rand Paul Losing the Ron Paul Revolution?
At one point, Rand Paul was well positioned to be the “candidate of a new generation.” His foreign policy and civil rights positions, for example, could unite constituencies otherwise driven apart by opportunistic partisan political operations. Instead, he appears to be hedging his positions to gain approval from Republican base voters and pandering to ideological purists.
What politicos have misunderstood—and apparently Paul has, too—is that the young voters who were attracted to the policies

Rand Paul Is Literally Buying an Election
Often times people use the term "buying an election" when they discuss money in politics and how much special interests spend to support or oppose a candidate. However, one 2016 presidential candidate is literally going to buy an election so he can run for re-election in his current seat and run for president at the same time.
Ahead of the Kentucky GOP's August 22 meeting, U.S. Senator Rand Paul petitioned the party to change its presidential primary to a caucus reportedly so he could bypass th

Rand Paul Seeks to Buy a Presidential Caucus
U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has transferred $250,000 to the Republican Party of Kentucky as a down payment for a presidential caucus he wants the party to conduct in March, according to an email sent to the party's central committee Monday.
Paul is seeking the party's help in bypassing a state law that prohibits him from running for president and for re-election to his Senate seat on the same ballot in 2016.
The email was also intended to quell concerns among the central committee -- which

How to Find Substance in These Mostly Substanceless Primary Shows

It’s that time again. Time to celebrate another presidential election cycle; an event that’s inching closer to becoming a perpetual race as opposed to a process that occurs every four years.
Did you catch the first Republican debate? There were so many candidates they had to split the field into two groups. It reminds me of when they have to add a gate to the Kentucky Derby to accommodate all the horses whose owners can afford the entrance fee.
It’s

How to Understand What is Going On in That Candidate's Head
Every politician has a promising career. Unfortunately, most of them do not keep those promises
Jokes about politicians are funny, usually because of the glaring kernel of truth they contain. To most who follow politics, our leaders have become stereotypes -- almost cookie cutter images of the people we'd expect to have as a politician.
But to social scientists, politicians are a bit more of a quagmire.Take any given profession and there are hundreds, if not thousands of large-scale studies do

One of the more anticipated campaigns for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination has seemingly dropped from the national conversation and is struggling to raise money.
