But what exactly should policy around AI look like?

Marcus says that Congress has largely failed in its approach -- noting that too many self-serving AI bill have been introduced while lawmakers have largely sat on their hands out of fear of what taking a stand might mean for them in an election -- especially with donors.

Here is the podcast's description of the episode:

Marcus highlights concerns of corporate irresponsibility, widespread AI deployment, lack of regulation, security, and inherent flaws in AI technology, as discussed during his Senate testimony in 2023. His new book, Taming Silicon Valley, warns about Big Tech's potential harm to consumers and democracy without regulatory action, especially at the federal level. Learn more about the challenges and downsides of the AI industry combined with optimistic solutions and guidelines that could help shape a brighter future with AI for generations to come."
