I don’t know, I’d say the Congresses of the last twelve years that voted for the war in Iraq, warrantless wiretapping, TARP, auto bailouts, Ex-Im bank funding, Medicare Part D, telecom immunity, the Patriot Act, failed stimulus bills, the largest increase in US debt, and so many other civil liberty destroying programs are the worst. I have a hard time understanding how this Congress is so much worse than the five preceding it, but then again, my “team” doesn’t control the White House, as Mr. Klein’s does.

I think this is just a trend. Right now and for the past forty years, the Democrats have had more power in Congress, and the Republicans have lacked the backbone to stand against them. Yes the Republicans talk a great talk, but there is not real bite. While the Democrats talk a great deal as well, they have for the most part kept the Republicans coward down giving them much more power, and the result is this continued growing mess we’re in. I am not a fan of either, but I just do not see enough tooth behind the Republican efforts to amount to anything. Indeed if there had been, then Pelosi would never have gotten this Healthcare bill she orchestrated the rewrite after Obama blew it again trying to get it passed. Nor would the Bailout have gotten through, as the Republicans talked against it, but when told it “Needed to be done” they coward again and signed on, as usual. So this is nothing new, just a continuation of the norm.

Mr. Klein is a self professed technocrat. In other words, he openly admits that he thinks his brain is better than yours and mine, and can therefore tell you and I what’s best for you and I. That’s what technocrats do. They dictate to others how to live their lives. So in conclusion, Mr. Klein is a self righteous establishment hack. Better Than Ezra isn’t just a band name anymore, its a journalistic guideline for how to not be terrible at your job.
