Unite America Director: History Will Be Made In November
We are only three months into 2018, but already big things are happening within the independent movement -- especially in Colorado.
Unite America (formerly the Centrist Project) recently launched with an ambitious goal: to elect enough independents to shift the balance of power in several states and in DC away from the Republican and Democratic Parties, and give a voice back to the people.
It's an enormous undertaking. The political movement launched with a historic national slate of independe

Republican State Senator Drops Party to Run on Independent Ticket
Independent Kansas gubernatorial candidate Greg Orman announced Tuesday that State Sen. John Doll of Garden City will join his independent ticket for governor.
Doll also announced that he will switch his voter registration from Republican to independent, and has notified the Senate Republican Leadership of his decision to leave the party.
“I'm running with Greg Orman because I believe he is the best possible Governor that Kansas could have,” said Doll. “He places the people first, he’s not abo

Texas: Why Only 10% of Voters Matter
The nation had its first primary elections of 2018 on Tuesday in Texas. Much of the media’s focus has been on whether a “blue wave” will sweep the nation. Meanwhile, Republicans assert that Texas still has a deeper shade of red than any other state.
But there is something very important missing from the conversation: Whether a Texas voter is Republican, Democrat, independent, or a member of a third party, the meaningfulness of his or her vote depends on the party he or she belongs to.
That is

Powerful Coalition Launches Campaign to Challenge Two-Party Politics
Now is a pivotal moment for the millions of Americans who recognize that there is something terribly wrong with our government. That is why a coalition of over 80 civic action groups, called the Bridge Alliance, is kicking off its educational campaign #HealthyGov.
It's no secret that Americans want change. A plurality of Americans no longer wish to identify with the establishment parties in the US. Even more Americans think a third party is needed. Congressional approval barely escapes the sing

As Two-Party Politics Collapses, A New Party Forms to Unite Independents
How can a party unite the independent majority and defeat the Republicans and the Democrats?
For decades, American voters have pretty much known about the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. As a matter of fact, those parties are believed by many to be the only ones.
During the last several years, tens of millions of people disillusioned with these establishment parties have felt like they are not represented. They feel as if they have no voice at all, and they have turned away from vot

Italy's Five Star Movement Could Bring Massive Reforms
As inconclusive as Italy's vote was over the weekend, one thing is clear, the Five Star movement (M5S) is now in the driver's seat as the country's largest party.
Voters in Italy said no to the establishment and yes to the up start Five Star movement. An independent group that began its rise about 5 years ago.
HUNG PARLIAMENT
The reason the vote was inconclusive is because none of the parties received a majority of the vote. The actual seats in parliament have yet to be assigned, but partial

Will a New Political Party Rise in 2018?
Independent candidates have not traditionally fared well in American politics. Ralph Nader and Ross Perot come to mind when we talk about those who managed to make a dent, and it’s stories like theirs that motivate others to attempt what has thus far been impossible — gaining a foothold in the American political system.
Despite allegations that ours was never intended to be a two-party government, federal endorsement all but guarantees that candidates running under the Democratic or Republican

Unrigging The System: Reformers, Civic Groups Take Action Following Historic Summit
The Unrig The System Summit in New Orleans was a historic event that brought together people from across the political spectrum who could all agree on at least one thing: Our political process is corrupt, rigged, and need of broad systemic reform.
Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, progressives, independents, and more shared the spotlight together not to talk about the political issues that divide them, but the reform initiatives that can unite them.
"Good things, developmental things are

Black Voting Rights Leader: BOTH Parties Guilty of Voter Suppression
I am a physician and a black woman who grew up poor and came of age in the 1970’s. I‘ve spent 25 years practicing medicine, mainly in Harlem, and I care deeply about the state of our country, about the state of black America, and about the state of our democracy.
I am also a political independent and reform activist who has worked for years to help generate conversations about our dysfunctional and divisive political system and the overwhelming social crisis that results from it.

Turning Tides at the New Orleans Summit
Sitting in the audience at the Unrig the System Summit in New Orleans two weeks ago, I couldn’t help but feel that a tide was turning. Speaker after speaker at this high energy and well-attended event made one central point: America cannot engage its massive social and economic problems under the present system. It is too corrupt.
Until we change it, reform it, re-engineer it, we will be powerless.
The conference’s main organizer, Josh Silver of Represent.Us, echoed this point throughout the w
