Key to Swing State Voters: Stagnant vs Growing Economy
Credit: Purple Strategies Purple Poll July 2012
In a new Purple Poll released today, voters in 12 swing states diverge dramatically on their views of the country's economic trajectory. This overwhelmingly affects who they plan on casting their ballot for in November.
"Among those who believe the economy is getting better, 93% support Obama, 4% favor Romney. And among those who say it is getting worse, Romney leads Obama 84% to 7%," says the Purple Strategies findings.

Independent Surge in Swing States
Key swing states have seen a surge in independent voters, with Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, and North Carolina adding a collective 443,000 independents to their voter demographic. And while the number of voters registering as Republicans steadily increases, Democrats have seen a decline in the number of voters registering with their party.
Why? Voters are frustrated.
“Independents are really just fed up with both parties. Most elections are about the center and that’s where

Taser Deaths in Vermont: Time for a Moratorium
Taser deaths by police in Vermont and elsewhere clearly show that it is time for a moratorium on what the UN calls a "torture weapon."
On the evening of June 20th in Thetford VT, Macadam Mason was just another all-but-anonymous 39-year-old artist, an alcoholic sober three years, a father of three who had epilepsy and mental health issues in the bargain. He’d had a grand mal seizure the day before and was suffering what, for him, were the typical disorienting after effects that usually lasted f

Virginia Could Determine the Presidential Election and Control of The US Senate in 2012
Before 2008, Virginia had not voted for a Democrat to be president since 1964. The state is seen as a critical swing state in 2012 and there can be some useful insights gleaned from the 2008 exit polls and by reflecting on the changes that have happened since then. Virginia has differences from the rest of the United States in several respects:

Ron Paul Delegate Count Rises from Romney Missteps and Frivolous Lawsuit
Last week, IVN commented on a lawsuit brought by alleged delegates to the Republican National Convention. The Republican National Committee, while stating that suit was frivolous at the same time organized all the named defendants into a united defense against this litigation. There is no indication yet that the complaint in the action was served on any defendant or that the RNC has voluntarily appeared and moved to take any pretrial actions. What is clear: Ron Paul's delegate count continues to

Ron Paul "Supporters'" Flawed Lawsuit Against the RNC
In terms of bizarre twists, last week, a lawsuit was filed in United States District Court for the Central District of California – entitled Delegates To The Republican National Convention vs. Republican National Committee [SACV 12- 00927 DOC (JPRx)]. The Paul campaign is keeping its distance for good reason – it is a very flawed suit. The United States District Court Judge in this action is David O. Carter, a no-nonsense judge and a former prosecutor.
While the Republican delegate selection pr
