This Day in History: Colorado Becomes the 38th State

On March 3, 1875 Congress laid out the requirements for the Territory of Colorado to gain its statehood. A little over a year later, then President Ulysses S. Grant signed the proclamation giving Colorado its statehood. It was given the moniker "The Centennial State".
