# Obama's Location Based App: Creepy or Creative?

Want to find the closest Democrat in your neighborhood? Let Barack Obama help you. His new app allows you to find Democrats on a map, with their name and address. Borderline creepy? Or is he taking canvassing to the next level?

The New York Times [calls it](http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/07/31/obama-campaign-releases-iphone-app-for-canvassing/?ref=ivn.us) “the science-fiction dream of political operatives," while [Slate](http://www.salon.com/2012/08/06/is%5Fyour%5Fneighbor%5Fa%5Fdemocrat%5Fobama%5Fhas%5Fan%5Fapp%5Ffor%5Fthat%5Fsalpart/?ref=ivn.us) refers to it as a "creepy" new app.

A spokesperson for the Obama campaign defends the app, arguing that there are no new privacy issues.
