Prop 29 would have added another $1 tax on cigarrettes to fund cancer research. Cancer research may be important, but Californians are apparently unwilling to force those who have made an unhealthy life decision to pay for it. With just 111,000 votes to count, Proposition 29 is down about 27,000 votes.
