With over 1 billion users on Facebook and half a billion on Twitter, police officers are capitalizing on the wealth of information provided by citizens in a method called “Social Policing.”

- 80% of law enforcement professionals are self-taught when it comes to using social media for investigations
- Two-thirds of users believe social media helps solve crimes more quickly
- 83% of current users expect to use social media more over the next year
