Early Childhood Education Leads to More Women in the Workforce

President Obama proposed a plan to expand early childhood education in his State of Union speech in January. Scholars and journalists began to look into how the plan could come to fruition and what effects it’ll have on Americans.

According to the following infographic from The Nation, government funded preschool would help facilitate more women in the workforce. Based on its data, only 40 percent of four year old children attend some form of preschool. One of five American families have homemaker mothers.

The effect is said to be a 10 percent increase of women in the workforce. This could lead to more families rising from poverty and better prepare children as students.
