Lucas Eaves commented on the post, Board of Supervisors Unanimously Supports Vargas’ Hazel’s Law, on the column IVN San Diego 4 hours, 42 minutes ago

This is good news for prosecutors in California. While I believe that criminals should have important rights, these rights should prevent the prosecution from doing it’s job, especially in cases like child sex trafficking.

Lucas Eaves commented on the post, Open Primaries Spark Debate, on the column The Political Alternative 7 hours, 10 minutes ago

Cool article. There is still way to many states that have closed primaries thus disenfranchising the growing number of independents/unaffiliated voters. Without going as far as implementing top two primaries

Lucas Eaves commented on the post, One-Fifth of Americans View Both Political Parties Unfavorably, on the column The Neutral Zone 7 hours, 23 minutes ago

Agreed. Political parties have always existed and are needed to organized the political world. However, when the main parties are being rejected by a growing number of citizens, something needs to change.

Lucas Eaves commented on the post, In Election, Republican Gabriel Gomez Seeks Independents, on the column ICON 14 hours, 9 minutes ago

I agree that his moderate positions could attract the support of independents but I am afraid that his foreign policy stance, especially about Syria could deter some independents too. I feel like American people

Lucas Eaves commented on the post, New Wisconsin Abortion Law Requires Ultrasound, Follows Popular Trend, on the column IVN 14 hours, 17 minutes ago

I would rather have a mandatory ultrasound than a prohibition of abortion after 6 weeks but it is still way to much of a burden on women to put all these requirements. The US is the only developed country that is

Lucas Eaves commented on the post, San Onofre Shutdown Can Be a Loss For the Environmental Movement, on the column California 14 hours, 23 minutes ago

The treatment of nuclear waste is indeed the corner stone of the opposition to nuclear. While in the short term, nuclear is by far the best solution to reduce our carbon emission, we have no idea what we are

Lucas Eaves commented on the post, Independents Exceed Party Registration In Key States, on the column IVN 14 hours, 27 minutes ago

That was the next thing I was going to look at. Isn’t it crazy that the states with the highest number of non-affiliated voters do not let them participate in the primaries. Or maybe it is the opposite, because

Lucas Eaves commented on the post, Illinois Public Pension Reform Tops Special Session Agenda, on the column ICON 1 day, 8 hours ago

California has a bigger pension deficit if you add unfunded liabilities and unfunded medical expenses for retirees, I don’t get how Illinois has a worst credit rating than California.
