Genevieve Santiago commented on the post, Prop 30 Feels the Impact of Negative Ads, on the site Election Center 6 months, 3 weeks ago

I think this could be a pretty confusing proposition for people. Not only has the “no” side ran an efficient, relentless campaign, Prop 38 adds to the confusion. When in doubt, voters are inclined to vote no. Prop […]

Genevieve Santiago commented on the post, Early Voter Results Going to Romney 52% to Obama’s 45%, on the site Independent Voter Network 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Not only is Hurricane Sandy disastrous to people’s lives on the East Coast, it can also have a major impact on voter turnout there. As Jane mentioned, voting will no doubt come second to survival during this time. […]

Genevieve Santiago commented on the post, China is an Important Issue for Ohio Voters, on the site Independent Voter Network 6 months, 4 weeks ago

Nice article, Christina. I hadn’t realized so many jobs from Ohio were outsourced to China. The presidential candidates’ position on China should definitely be on Ohio residents’ radar.

Genevieve Santiago wrote a new post, Absentee Data Provide Insight Into Senate and Assembly Races, on the site Independent Voter Network 6 months, 4 weeks ago

    Thumbnail

Since the mid 1990s, the number of California absentee voters has steadily risen. In 2008, nearly forty-two percent of ballots were cast by mail for the general election and, in 2010, that number rose to […]

Genevieve Santiago commented on the post, The Peace and Freedom Party Has Three Chances in California, on the site Independent Voter Network 7 months ago

Nice article, Ben. It is unfortunate that the PFP candidates are not focusing on the good that this opportunity has presented. How they made the ballot is less important. They should focus on their exposure and […]

Genevieve Santiago commented on the post, Latinos are Confident in Voter ID Laws, Reports Suggest, on the site Independent Voter Network 7 months ago

I completely agree that many ID uses are privileges, and this was even distinguished in the NPR interview I reference to in the article. Unless the USSC rules against an ID requirement, states have the right to […]

I see your point, Nelson. I too would be angry if I got to the polls and was told that I had already voted.

I was also surprised by these numbers. When in-person voter fraud is not an issue, why go through the trouble and money of putting these laws in place? Initially, I also saw it as a way to disenfranchise those who […]

Genevieve Santiago commented on the post, Prop 30 is an Important Centerpiece of the California Ballot, on the site Independent Voter Network 7 months ago

Protecting educational funding should be a priority in California. I do not like paying taxes anymore than the next person, but I do feel as residents we have a duty to preserve and improve public education.

Genevieve Santiago commented on the post, Poll: Independents Prefer Divided Government in Washington, on the site Independent Voter Network 7 months, 3 weeks ago

I agree. Of course independents do not want one party to have too much power. A balance is ideal, but polarization prohibits members from working together enough. Sharing power is fundamental to US government, but […]
