  1. “This is never an easy day,” President Barack Obama said to an audience of active-duty service members, families of those killed and others today at the Pentagon.

“But it is especially difficult for all of you, the families of nearly 3,000 innocents who lost their lives—your mothers and fathers, your husbands and wives, your sons and your daughters. They were taken from us suddenly and far too soon,” he continued.

“As painful as this day is and always will be, it leaves us with a lesson that no single event can ever destroy who we are.  No act of terrorism can ever change what we stand for.  Instead, we recommit ourselves to the values that we believe in, holding firmly without wavering, to the hope that we confess,” he said.  ”God bless the memories of those we lost.  And God bless these United States of America.”

On this most somber day, America is united under God in its quest for peace and freedom at home and across the world.

                              IVN Etiquette

All content on IVN is the sole work of the individual authors and is not directed or controlled by IVN.us or its partners. The one requirement is that all articles and comments meet IVN's etiquette guidelines. IVN is dedicated to restoring open dialogue and engagement in our political system, unfiltered by the partisanship that drives the larger public dialogue.

                              » Read Etiquette Guidelines
The Independent Voter Network is dedicated to providing political analysis, unfiltered news, and rational commentary in an effort to elevate the level of our public discourse.

                              A Platform for Unfiltered News

The purpose of IVN.us is to provide unfiltered political news and policy analysis across the political spectrum. Unlike traditional media outlets and elsewhere in the “blogosphere” where the diversity of viewpoints is often reduced into partisan circles, IVN actively encourages contributors and readers of differing political tendencies to engage in a constructive dialogue. The mission of IVN.us is to raise the level of civil discourse to a place where solutions are more persuasive than talking points, and participation is not conditioned on your party affiliation. To achieve these objectives, IVN has established four clear Etiquette Guidelines that all editors, contributors, and participants on the Network must respect:
                              1) No Personal Attacks:
Attack the argument, not the person.
                              2) No Self-Promotion:
This news platform is for discussing issues.  You may purchase an advertisement for promotional purposes.
                              3) Sources must be Substantiated
Just because someone else said it does not mean its true.  The gossip stops here.
                              4) No Partisan-Based Attacks
If your sentence starts with “Democrats think…” or “All Republicans are…” your article will be rejected.

It can be so discouraging to see the mudslinging and self-promotion among political candidates and opposing parties. But every year its inspiring to watch Americans come together to remember 9/11 and to stand together as we remember all of those people who died 11 years ago. Makes me think there’s some hope left in America…somewhere.
