Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) will celebrate Arbor Day by hosting a tree planting event on Saturday, December 5, 2012. The public is invited to volunteer by taking part in the planting of oak trees or just come and enjoy the event. Meeting time is 9:00 am at the Kumeyaay Lake Campground in the day use parking lot. Volunteers will be also needed to remove weeds and for general landscaping maintenance of the area. Gloves and good shoes are recommended; some shovels will be provided.
Contributions for Arbor Day at the Park were encouraged to be sent in by November 15th, but the MTRP Foundation is always accepting donations. Arbor Day in Mission Trails would not exist without its sponsors: City of San Diego Councilmember Marti Emerald, City of San Diego Park & Recreation Department, Mission Trails Regional Park Citizens’ Advisory Committee and Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation.
For more information about Arbor Day in Mission Trails or other events at MTRP, you can call the Mission Trails Visitor & Interpretive Center at (619) 668-3281.

Yeah it does. The best diversity of trails and nature in San Diego County. I took a hiking course from Grossmont College once and all we did was hit up a new trail every Saturday. Mission Trails is where it’s at!
