Canadian newspaper, National Post, compiled information from 2011′s U.S. National Drug Intelligence Center Report into a very interesting infographic on the scope of Mexican drug cartels. For years, Mexico has been plagued with violence as a result of competing cartels and government inefficiency. Although recent reports put murders down 15-20% in the first 6 months of 2012, the incoming Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto will have his work cut out for him.

So, basically there would be no drugs in America if it weren’t for Mexico. Very informative infographic, however, stats as scare tactics to stay out of Mexico can be effective. I’m going to Ensenada next week and I hope I don’t end up as one of 1,800 deaths due to drugs in the last 6 years.
