Best Liberal Arts Colleges put together an infographic examining the cost of US wars. From the Revolutionary War to to the war in Afghanistan the numbers are staggering.
Nearly half of the United States’ history has involved armed conflict in one way or another. Many tend to forget conflicts like Korea, the Mexican War, and the Indian Wars which lasted multiple years and cost thousands of lives.
A new perspective on the more well-known wars like WWII and Vietnam can help inform a broader understanding of what it means when the US goes to war and how those costs affect the country.

Would it be safe to say that armed conflict plays a large role in the US economy?

Very cool infographic. I didn’t know about the Barbary wars either and completely forgot about the Philippine war too. Great stuff, and to answer Mike’s war has a huge effect on the US economy.
