Another fact: In 1956 Eisenhower signed a law making “In God We Trust” the nation’s offical motto. Since then the phrase has been on the paper currency, and “Under God” was inserted into the pledge of allegiance.

I find those two things pretty unseemly, but I have a soft spot for Ike. He’s arguably the best president of the 20th century.

You know I do as well. But I must also bring up Ike’s covert black ops Executive actions spearheaded by then VP Nixon, that account for much of the foreign policy blowback we experience today. Otherwise known as “Track 2.” For example, overthrowing the democratically elected Iranian government and installing the Shah, an unpopular dictator.
As for arguably the best prez of the 20th century… COO-LIDGE, COO-LIDGE!
