Joe Lieberman, a rare independent in Congress. The New England state is often overshadowed by ultra-political neighboring states, like Massachusetts and New York. Traditionally, Connecticut leans Democratic. American author Mark Twain is a Connecticut native, as is former President George H.W. Bush and family.
