Lucy Ma

Lucy graduated from CSU Chico with a double major in International Relations and International Economics. She first got her start in CA state politics as a writer for then Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She has since gone on to serve as a Communications Director in the CA State Assembly, and as a political fundraising consultant based out of Sacramento. Lucy now joins IVN staff as a contributor focusing on CA state politics. As a registered Republican, her political leanings are right of center.

The California Manufacturers and Technology Association released a new report last week that suggests costs associated with AB 32 may be a lot higher than previously estimated. AB 32, otherwise known as the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, was signed into law by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger- propelling California to the forefront in the fight against global warming.

Today, both houses of the California State Legislature passed a spending plan totaling $92.1 billion for the next fiscal year. By passing the state budget on a near party-line vote, minus a select few Democrats that voted nay, Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and Assembly Speaker John Perez are now able to send the final budget along to Governor Jerry Brown for approval.
